• With Sony releasing the eBook Library 3.0 Software for Mac and PC today and, therein, providing an official Sony eReader driver for Mac (sony_prs kernel extension found in the 3.0 software installer), will Adobe be able to provide support for the Sony eReaders in a future version of Adobe Digital Editions for Mac? As far as I understood, the limitation on the Mac version stemmed from the fact that Sony itself did not officially support the Mac but with that now in the past when can we expect to see this support added in Adobe Digital Editions for Mac? • I now, Sony® Reader PRS-505 appears on Mac as mass storage card, but in the specifications for Digital Editions, it doesn't say any think about that is not support for mac, and I would like to know if the Sony® Reader PRS-505 doesn't appears on my mac because is not supported by Digital Editions on Mac or because I have a problem. If not , Is going to be a support for it on the immediate future.
  Now that Digital Editions offer support for Windows I believe Adobe have to offer parity for Mac.

  I can concur that this Mac workaround does not actually work, for protected digital editions checked out from a public library website.
  The Adobe staffer said that as a one time process, you can authroize the reader itself on a windows machine, by stating 'Next, plug in your Sony Reader and then in ADE, select the Reader and choose 'Authorize Device' from the Library menu'
  I did not see this option, the only authorize command in the library menu was to authorize the computer, not the reader.
  On my windows machine, my PRS-505 shows up in the Adobe digital editions software, and I verified that the copy of digital editions was registered to my adobe ID (email address). I can use the windows digital editions software to copy checked out titles to the PRS-505 no problem, they last the 3 weeks they are supposed to and open up fine on the 505.
  On the Mac, I can download checked out titles from the library to the mac digital editions software, and read them on the Mac. They last the 3 weeks as expected.
  I can also, using the mac's finder, copy the downloaded digital edition book to the reader, which shows up in the finder as a mass storage device. When I fire up the reader, the transferred titles are there.
  HOWEVER, if I try to actually read the checked out title from the library (that I copied over from the Mac) I get a blank screen that says 'not authorized'. Going along with this, the title, in the library view on the PRS-505, does not show the little 'day counter' that counts down how many days you have from your 21 day borrowing window.
  So yes, you can use the Mac finder to manually copy a downloaded digital edition to the PRS-505, but its not actually authorizing that copied book to the reader, so you can actually READ it on the reader. That authorization process only seems to happen on a PC, when you use the digital editions software to do the copy instead of the Mac finder.
  So I don't think there is an actual workaround, at least not for me.

  10.4 is the lowest current supported version of Adobe Digital Editions.

• I just got a Kobo Glo and am trying to download/install the Adobe Digital Editions software on my Mac but I am running into issues: (I not very versed in computers so I hope someone can walk me through my issues slowly)
  I tried to download the Adobe Digital Editions software and got a screen saying installation was complete, I appear to have Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 and Adobe Digital Editions icons in my applications folder, when I go to open the Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 Icon I am taken to a 'bookshelves' page with a 'Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions' booklet in it.
  I do not know how to open the Adobe Digital Editions actual software so I can access the 'set up assistant' to authorize my computer??????????????? It does not seem to want to open on it's own and I have no idea how to find it. I do have an Adobe ID.

  When you have ADE (digital editions) open with 'bookshelves' page with a 'Getting Started with Adobe Digital Editions' booklet in it,
  enter cmd-shift-U, or menu/Help/Authorize Computer.
  That will ask for your Adobe ID and password and authorize the computer.
  Once that has been done you shouldn't need to do it again.
  Sometimes you do need to if things go wrong, but you certainly shouldn't have to do it at all regularly.
  When that has been done, plug in the Kobo; it should show up in the left pane of ADE.
  Use 'menu/Help/Authorize Device' and that will authorize your Kobo with the Adobe ID from the Mac.
  You can then copy books by drag-dropping onto the Kobo within ADE

• How do I activate Digital Editions in OS X? I go to the link, and it says it works for OS X, but the link is dead, a 404. I submitted a report to the webmaster but it's been a couple of weeks and it's still the same. Is it really supported under Mac? Or do I need to hop over to Vmware and WinXP to be able to read my ebook I just purchased? Thanks in advance! Here are my specs:

  I found an answer to a similar question on the Forum from TTWTT (TTMTT), who posted a link to download versions 2 and 3 of Digital Editions at Adobe Digital Editions downloads (Adobe Digital Editions downloads). I had tried find these downloads on Adobe's far from helpful website with total lack of success. Version 3 seems to be working on Mavericks; I have no idea if version 3 will work on Yosemite. From other threads in this forum, it sounds like Adobe Digital Editions does not work very well (if at all) on Yosemite.
  Whether Adobe is working is a totally different question.
  So far it appears that Adobe Digital Editions 4.02 is a disaster, best avoided.

• How can I download and re-install Photoshop CS5 Extended Student and Teacher Edition (for Mac) for which I have a licence? I lost the previous version in a disk crash. I tried downloading the full Photoshop CS5 installer, but I was told I couldn't run the installer because I didn't have permission.

• I purchased “Adobe Captivate 8 Student and Teacher Edition” for Mac on 7/31/14 and it is now 12/17/14 (only 5 months later) but it is showing as “Not applicable” when I go to download (maybe re-download) the program. I understood that I would be able to use the application on 2 computers, one at home and one at work. I think I’ve downloaded the program at home one time but have yet to install and activate it. I now have a new computer at work that can support that program and want to install the program on my office computer, but cannot download it again. Please advise.

  It seems like that you have purchased a subscription for Captivate 8. In subscription you do not require any serial number. Subscriptions are activated on the basis of your Adobe Id. When user will install Captivate he has to sign in with the same Adobe Id under which they bought subscription. It will get activated after successful sign in during the installation.
  As far as the installer is concern there is no difference in the trial version installer or purchased version installer. The installer is same for trial and purchased copy. All user needs to do is sign in during the installation if it is a subscription or use his serial number if it is a perpetual license or volume license.
  You may download the trial version from the link mentioned above and then use your Adobe Id to activate the subscription.

  Hopefully a simple question. My father-in-law passed recently, leaving behind an unopened copy of CS 5.5 Master Collection Student and Teacher Edition for Macs. How can I find out if he registered this software without opening it? After finding out how much this software runs, I'd like to sell or return it if possible to give the money to my mother-in-law for funeral costs.

  I have similar issues with the whole MS Office solution since I 'upgraded' towards Yosemite:
  when I use Cmd+W or the 'close' menu option to close a Word file, Word crashes down (I always send a message to Microsoft but I guess this is more related to Yosemite or to its installation; consequence is it become very difficult to close a file, as it re-opens it the next time :-(
  same thing for Excel and PowerPoint
  When I try to save in PDF format a Word file containing several sections, it produces one PDF file per section - wasn't before Yosemite
  Excel crashes down much more often than before because of lack of memory
  Well, if someone has a suggestion, I would be grateful, 'cause it is becoming actually boring - and counter-productive !

  Virtual PC is outdated and probably doesn't even run under Snow Leopard (since you're posting in the Snow Leopard forum).
  For running Windows software next to Mac software, your current choices are Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox, and others. All will run much faster than Virtual PC anyway.
