- Sep 25, 2018 Apple has just released macOS 10.14 Mojave, its latest version of the operating system for Macs and MacBooks, but if you’re running an older Mac.
- May 27, 2013 Okay, so you’ve installed all the major applications, now we move onto the libraries that will help your Kinect interface with Mac OS X. Libtool: A generic library support tool. To install Libtool, firstly open Terminal on your mac: Applications / Utilities / Terminal.
- As you may know it, Kinect is a product manufactured by Microsoft. This leads to a lack of support for other operating systems like Linux or MacOS. But don't worry there are solutions. You first need to check the main prerequisite: - your computer.
It could be related to the Mac OS / Mac OS X installed on or the hard drive space on the Mac that is being used. However, this is only speculation and if you have an exact answer (or theory) as to why some Mac users download the full installer and some the mini-installer, share that with us in the comments. Dec 30, 2012 This command will install the driver to allow the proper functioning of Kinect. I download and installed processing 2.0 for Mac OSX from here. This is because the version 1.5.x has some problem with the latest versions of Mac OSX. We have to do few changes into the source code of the examples provided with Simple OpenNI. Later I'll show you how.
Using Kinect on Mac is as easy as ordering Latte. But there is also a lot of confusion on the Internet and sites that seem to be old and give you the wrong advice such as installing a separate sensor library in addition to OpenNI. Right now there are no official public driver for Kinect 2.0. However, if you want to develop an OS X application there are libraries such as OpenKinect that can allow to interface Kinect through OS X. Kinect SDK for Mac give you the reason why Microsoft does not develop driver for OS X. 7.7k views View 1 Upvoter.
I have created a USB driver which allows you to use wired XBox 360 Controllers via USB, and wireless XBox 360 Controllers via the Microsoft Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows, on your OSX machine, including support for the Apple Force Feedback library. The driver is licenced under the GPL.
Snow Leopard
I've released a version which will hopefully install and work fine on 32-bit Snow Leopard. It also contains 64-bit binaries, however I've been unable to test them because Apple have disabled my MacBook from booting into 64-bit mode. I have however been informed that 64-bit and 32-bit builds are both working.
ChatPad
I have got the Microsoft ChatPad working with my wired controller. The latest release of the driver includes support, and I'll be updating the USB information section of this website shortly. I've not yet checked the wireless receiver for compatibility.
Other info
Sadly, my PowerMac has died, which as my primary development machine has slowed progress.
I have added a version of the driver without support for the Guitar Hero controller, to allow the Guitar Hero for Mac game to work (it attempts to access hardware directly, which doesn't work if a real driver has claimed the device).
Help
If you find the driver does not work for you, please attempt and find out as much as you can about the device, preferably using the Apple 'USB Prober' application provided with the developer tools, but the output of System Profiler for the device may be enough. E-mail it back and I'll try and work with you to get it working.
Force feedback-enabled games
Games I've currently tested for force feedback support (only games that support basic rumble will probably function currently, as I've only implemented triangle, square and sine wave-type effects. I also lack any other force feedback device for comparison :) ):
Jammin' Racer - seems to work fine

Contacted Canon with a similar issue for my Canon MX870 and they suggested the following (which worked for me):
Quicktime player for mac os x yosemite. Apple has done a splendid job on making the Mac OS extremely user friendly and i have to say that the mac has made my work more effortless.Since i love to create tutorials for anything new that i find on my Macbook, i regularly make use of the screen capture feature to take screenshot of my Mac’s screen.
Since there is no updated driver and software for your MX870, you can try downloading and installing the following Canon driver supplied by Apple. Since this is a third-party driver, Canon has not tested this and there's no assurance that it will work on your end.
Printer and scanner drivers for Mac (OS X Lion or later)
Once installed, you can then use Image Capture to perform scanning.
1. Turn on or wake up your printer, but donÂ’t press any other buttons on it.

2. On your Mac, click on the Finder icon on your Dock.
3. Click on the Go menu, and then select Applications.
4. Locate and double click on Image Capture to open it.
5. On the left-hand side, youÂ’ll see two sections named Devices and Shared. Multifunction printers and scanners connected by USB cable will appear in the Devices section and networked or wireless devices will appear in the Shared section. (If your device isnÂ’t listed in either section, then it is not detected or itÂ’s likely not compatible with Image Capture.)
6. Click on your printer in either the Devices or Shared section to select it.
7. You might need to wait while your machine warms up.
