Would try a different hard disk file. I'm assuming your current file isn't formatted correctly.
Did you download a compressed one, llike this: http://www.emaculation.com/pearpc/macosx_6gb.rar

| I extracted the blank hard disk image from http://www.emaculation.com/pearpc/macosx_6gb.rar and set this in the cfg file: pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_type = 'hd'
pci_ide0_master_image = 'macosx_6gb.img'
pci_ide0_slave_installed ='1'
pci_ide0_slave_type = 'cdrom'
pci_ide0_slave_image = 'Mac OS X Install DVD.iso'
The problem when PearPC tries to boot from the Mac OS X Install DVD does not seem to be because of the hard drive.

Dvd's are not/badly supported. You should be on the lookout for the 4 cd variant of the OSX 10.4 PowerPC version.
